ABSTRACT

[Objective] To investigate the expression of microRNA-200c (miR-200c) in colorectal carcinomas (CRC),and analyze its role on tumor cell migration and invasion.[Methods] The expression levels of miR-200c in CRC tissues and adjacent normal mucosa were assessed by real-time quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR).miR-200c mimics were transiently transfected into human colorectal cancer cells, and their roles on cell migration and invasion were analyzed by Transwell assay.Cell proliferation was measured using the Cell Counting kit-8.The expression levels of epithelial and mesenchymal markers as well as related transcription factor ZEB1 were detected by Western blotting.[Results] Lower miR-200c expression was found in primary CRC tissues with lymph node metastasis compared to those without lymph node metastasis and adjacent normal mucosa.Transfection of miR-200c mimics suppressed proliferation, and reduced invasion and migration in SW620 cells.Furthermore,up-regulation of miR-200c inhibited ZEB1,and resulted in increased E-cadherin and reduced Vimentin gene expression.[Conclusion] miR-200c was associated with invasive and metastatic behavior of CRC.These effects may be mediated through regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To discuss the expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin proteins and genes in non-invasive and invasive group of thymoma. Methods The 120 paraffin embedded thymoma tissues from Dongguan People's Hospital from 2012 to 2016 were being divided into non-invasive group and invasive group based on performance under the microscope,Masaoka clinical staging methods and clinical imaging data. These cases were also being used for immunohistochemical (IHC) tests and gene fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) of E-cadherin and β-catenin.Results 55 cases were included in invasive group and 65 cases in non-invasive group.Antibodies and IHC tests were used to examine the expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin in 120 cases of thymoma. The expression difference of E-cadherin and β-catenin protein in non-invasive and invasive thymoma had statistical significance (P < 0.05).In non-invasive and invasive thymoma cases, difference among groups of E-cadherin regrading gene expression deletion had statistical significance (P< 0.05).Difference among groups in β-catenin expression also had statistical significance (P < 0.05).Conclusion IHC tests of E-cadherin and β-catenin protein and FISH tests of E-cadherin and β-catenin gene indicate that there are significances in differential diagnosis between the non-invasive and invasive thymomas.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical results of surgical treatment for old pelvic fractures with reconstruction plate.

METHODSFrom February 2000 to February 2011, 24 patients with old pelvic fractures were treated with internal fixation with reconstruction plates. There were 10 males and 14 females, with an average age of 42 years (ranged, 20 to 62 years). The time from injury to operation was from 23 to 64 days with an average of 35 days. X-rays and CT scanning were performed in all patients. According to classification of Tile, Tile C was in 11 cases and Tile B was in 13 cases.

RESULTSEighteen patients were followed up for 6 to 48 months with an average of 24 months. According to Majeed criteria, 9 cases obtained excellent results, 5 good, 4 fair, with average score of (84.4 +/- 11.5).

CONCLUSIONPositively operative treatment, exactly preoperative evaluation, correctly reduction and fixation can obtain satisfactory results in treating old pelvic fractures.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the stability of micro-implant orthodontic anchorage(MA)with different pitch in the case of immediate loading.Method Employing 3D finite element analysis method, the stress and dis-placement distribution on the bone interface of MIA with different pitch(0.3 mm、0.5 mm、0.7 mm and 1.0 mm,respectively),which was 1.47 N loaded vertically in the major axis direction, were analyzed.Result The pitch affected the stress distribution significantly, because the maximum stress increased with the pitch decreasing and the impact of pitch on stress distribution on neck and central locations of MIA were different;to decrease the pitch could reduce the max displacement of the jaw,but the impact of pitch on displacement distribution of MIA was not significant.Condusions In the case of immediate loading.MIA with pitch 0.5 mm-0.7 mm is suggested to be selected as orthodontic anchorage in the clinic.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture analgesia in reducing patient's discomfort during colonoscopy.

METHODSEighty outpatients scheduled to undergo colonoscopy were randomly divided into an electroacupuncture (EA) group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. The patients in the EA group received electroacupuncture analgesia at the right Zusanli (ST 36) and Shangjuxu (ST 37), and left Yinlingquan (SP 9) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), and bilateral Hegu (LI 4) from 30 minutes before colonoscopy to the end of colonoscopy. And the control group did not receive any treatment. Blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR) in the both groups were continuously monitored during colonoscopy; the pain degrees during colonoscope inserting and passing the sigmoid, splenic flexure and hepatic flexure were observed. The time to reach cecum, adverse reaction and patient's satisfactoriness were recorded.

RESULTSColonoscopy was well tolerated in all the 80 patients. Pain degrees during colonoscope inserting and passing the sigmoid and splenic flexure in the EA group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01); the time to reach cecum in the EA group (9.58 +/- 3.386) min was significantly shorter than that in the control group (12.96 +/- 6.4) min (P < 0.05); patient's satisfactoriness in the EA group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in HR and BP values between the two groups.

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture analgesia can effectively alleviate the discomfort of patients during colonoscopic examination, shorten the duration of colonoscopy, with a higher satisfactoriness of the patient.
